A 25-year-old Kirkland man was killed when he apparently was trying to get out of a stuck elevator, but fell down the shaft in a parking garage at the Lincoln Square shopping center.
The Bellevue Fire Department says the accident happened about 8:10 p.m. when an elevator got stuck between floors and the people on board pried the doors open and began exiting out the bottom half of the elevator.
Fire Lieutenant Bruce Kroon says four made it out safely, but the fifth fell backward and plummeted 'several stories' down the shaft and was killed.
