A driver of an SUV who rammed a patrol car and then ran from the scene early Sunday later turned himself in.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a state trooper spotted an abandoned vehicle on the right shoulder of northbound State Route 167 near 277th.
The trooper got out to investigate, and then stepped back into his cruiser when the Ford Expedition drove on to the shoulder and struck the officer's car.
The rear of the trooper's car was destroyed by the impact. The Ford Expedition rolled over and the driver ran away from the scene.
Police began a search using dogs and helicopters to find the suspect, but were unable to find him.
The trooper suffered cuts to his head, and a possible broken arm. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was treated and released.
It's unknown if alcohol was involved in the crash.
The suspect was booked without incident. He suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
