Officer Injured In Motorcycle Accident On Way To Work

Monday morning, a Lynnwood police officer was on his way to work, riding a motorcycle, when he was struck by a car and injured near Kirkland, the King County Sheriff's Office reported.

Stephen Showalter, 40, has been an officer of the Lynnwood department for six years. Although he sustained a broken leg and wrist, doctors have reported that his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Showalter was driving a police motorcycle but was not yet on duty.

The officer was headed west on NE 124th St. in unincorporated King County around 7 a.m. when his motorcycle collided with an eastbound car that was turning.
