Motorcyclist Killed On Highway 9

August 22, 2005

The Washington State Patrol reported that one man died after an accident near the Skagit River Bridge on Highway 9 near Sedro Wooley, Wash.

The report states that a man driving a white pickup southbound on the highway rear-ended the vehicle in front of him, causing that car to cross into oncoming traffic where it struck the motorcycle.

The driver of the pickup apparently left the scene, but a witness followed him and called 9-1-1. A state trooper and Mount Vernon police tracked down the suspect and took him into custody.

The victim was identified as 62-year-old Thomas McDonald. The driver was not identified, however.
