Girl Dies In Boating Crash

A six-year-old girl was killed in a boating accident on Billy Clapp Lake about 10 miles east of Soap Lake.

The Grant County sheriff's office said five people were in the boat when it slammed into the rocky shore. The boat broke apart and was partially submerged.

The girl died at the scene. Four others were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Sheriff's deputies said the boat was driven by a 44-year-old Kent man and alcohol was a factor.
