Humane Society officers have captured pitbulls, one of which allegedly attacked Aubree Davidson, a 6-year-old girl as well as another child in a separate incident.
Apparently, young kids were walking the pitbull, which attacked Aubree Davidson. The dog suddenly broke free of the children and ran toward the playground where Aubree was playing.
There were two pitbulls loose on the playground, both weighing about 45 pounds. The dog, which attacked Aubree was white with black and brown spots and was larger than the girl. The bite created a deep wound that needed several stitches when Aubree was taken to the nearby hospital. It was unclear whether the other pitbull attacked anybody.
Workers from the Humane Society in Tacoma, Washington seized a Pitbull dog from a home near the school on Friday morning, February 25, 2005. However, the dog that was seized was later determined to not be the dog that attacked Aubree Davidson. The seized dog was instead wanted in an attack on another child earlier in the week whom is the son of Tacoma resident, Craig Simms.
According to Matt Davidson, Aubree's father, the girl is terrified and is now afraid to encounter dogs on the street.
The dog and its owner were allowed to get away. The dog's owner provided his name and phone number to School officials. However, both the name and number turned out to be false. Both he and the dog disappeared before police could arrive. There have been no arrests in any of these cases. The Humane Society is still investigating, but if officers find negligence by the dog owners, criminal charges could follow.
It appeared that the dog, which attacked Aubree has a history of violence. It has not been determined whether the dog will be put to sleep. There was no information as to whether the animal was carrying any disease.
