A man who was driving the bus that struck and killed a woman in Everett on Monday has been placed on administrative leave.
The woman was critically injured when the bus hit her at or near the crosswalk at 33rd Street and Broadway about 5:17 p.m. Witnesses and the Everett Fire Department provided aid, but she died later at Providence Everett Medical Center's Colby Campus.
The man has been a full-time driver for Community Transit for two years, Pearce said.
Everett police are still investigating the accident. There has been no decision on whether the driver should be cited or charged with a crime, police spokesman Boyd Bryant said.
Community Transit's insurance company is conducting its own investigation, Pearce said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office has not released the identity of the woman who died. She was not carrying identification, but police believe she was in her 30s.
Pearce would not comment on whether the driver would be fired if police cite him.
