Six people were injured after a 28-year-old woman ran her minivan directly into a telephone pole on Auburn Way South on Thursday night. She is now facing charges of driving while intoxicated.
Three of the victims were children.
One of the children was a 6-year-old boy who was a passenger in the van. He was flown toHarborview Medical Center in Seattle by an Airlift Northwest helicopter where doctors treated him for injuries less severe than was initially believed, said a spokesman from the Auburn police department.
The other two victims were siblings, a 2-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl. The sisters were rushed to Harborview Medical Center as well, along with the woman behind the steering wheel.
Authorities are still trying to determine the woman's relation to the children.
Other victims injured in the accident included two people who were struck by the minivan when it left the road. They were both taken to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
At the time of this article, there was no information about the condition of the six victims. More details will not be released until next week.
