A King County sheriff's deputy was rushing to the scene of an accident on Sunday when he smashed his car into another one. The deputy was taken to the hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries.
The officer was headed north on Pacific Highway South at around 2 a.m. when the accident occurred. He reportedly had his lights on as well as the siren when he collided with the other car.
The driver of the other car pulled in front of the officer's car close to South 172nd Street causing the collision, according to a spokesman from the Sheriff's Office.
The collision sent the officer's car careening off the road where it went up in flames. Another officer and a passer-by rushed to the officer's aid and were able to pull him from the wreckage.
An ambulance took the officer to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and doctors treated him and later listed him in satisfactory condition.
The driver of the other car sustained only minor injuries and he was released at the scene.
The deputy, 28, whose name was not released, has been with the Sheriff's department for five years.
