An Everson man was in serious condition in St. Joseph Hospital Thursday morning after a three-vehicle crash on Hannegan Road Wednesday afternoon.
Modesto Rodriguez, 27, was a passenger in a 1985 Subaru that was stopped in the northbound lane on Hannegan Road near Smith Road to allow a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck escorting an oversize-load vehicle to complete a right turn into a construction site.
The accident shut down Hannegan Road for several hours Wednesday afternoon.
The Washington State Patrol reported that a northbound 1979 Ford pickup pulling a trailer loaded with cows could not stop in time and rammed the Subaru from behind, pushing it into the other pickup.
The driver of the Subaru, Monica L. Rodriguez, 28, of Sumas, was listed in satisfactory condition at the hospital.
Another passenger, Laticia Rodriguez, was also reported satisfactory. Her age and place of residence were not immediately available.
The Ford pickup driver, Andrew W. Young, 64, of Sedro-Woolley, was not hurt.
Joseph J. Jancovic, 64, the driver of the Dodge, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
