Man Dies In 2-vehicle Collision

A fatal crash near Ellensburg, Washington on Friday night led to the closure of Highway 97. The two-vehicle crash took place about 10:50 p.m. about 20 miles north of Ellensburg.

25-year-old Joseph Kraft, of Ellensburg, was driving his GMC pickup northbound when he crossed the center-line and hit a southbound tractor-trailer driven by 48-year-old Ivan Piven, of Everett.

Kraft died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. Piven suffered injuries.
