A two-car collision on Highway 4 near Seattle, Washington killed four people yesterday.
According to the State Patrol, Richard Clayton Wend, 79, of Vancouver, Clark County, was driving east on Highway 4 around 5:45 p.m. when his truck crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.
About two miles west of Cathlamet, Clayton's truck struck a westbound car driven by Larry Davis Strohm, 62, of Missoula, Montana.
Wend's truck left the road and rolled onto its top in the westbound lane of the highway. Both Wend and his passenger, Kenneth Bruce Dundas, 78, of Kalama, Cowlitz County, died at the scene.
Strohm's vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane and caught fire. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, Strohm and his passenger, Lois Teresa Strohm, 52, also of Missoula, Mont. were also declared dead at the scene.
