Deputy Rear Ended On I-5, 3 Others Injured

November 1, 2005

A King County sheriff was stopped on Interstate 5 on Friday night just south of downtown Seattle when he was rear-ended, slowing traffic on the northbound lanes of the freeway to a crawl.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the deputy, as well as the three other people involved in the three-car accident, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

Their conditions were not released yet

State Patrol says that at about 7:45 p.m., the King County deputy pulled a driver over just north of Michigan Street because of erratic driving.

The deputy had placed the driver of the car under arrest when a third vehicle with two people riding inside lost control and smashed into the deputy's car. The deputy's car was knocked onto its side.

Two lanes of I-5 remained closed last Friday night.
