Car Crash Kills Three, Speeding And Alcohol Suspected

October 31, 2005

On Sunday, three people were killed instantly in a two-car collision on 144th Street on the Key Peninsula, a Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

At about 1:55 a.m., a 30-year-old man and a woman, 28, were driving east on 144th Street near Wright Bliss Road when they veered across the roadway's centerline and crashed head-on into a westbound car, said a sheriff's spokesman.

The man who was driving the car, the woman, and the driver of the westbound car, a man, were all killed in the accident. None of the victims have been identified.

A driver behind the car with the man and the woman was a witness to the accident and he stopped after the incident and called 911.

Police believe that alcohol and speeding contributed to the cause of the crash.

The Sheriff's department is still investigating the accident.
