Bail was set at $75,000 last Thursday, February 24, 2005 for an Aberdeen, Washington man held on suspicion of driving drunk and causing a collision that killed a Shelton woman.
Anthony M. Stricevich, 49, was driving on State Road 3 around 5 p.m. near Seattle in his Chevrolet pickup. Mr. Stricevish suddenly crossed the centerline and smashed into oncoming Dodge Neon driven by Marianne M. Rangel, 30.
There was no information as to Mr. Stricevich's condition from the accident. Two passengers in Ms. Rangel's car, John C. Kirton, 24, and Joshua D. Bobo, 24, both of Shelton, were taken to Mason General Hospital. Information on their conditions was unavailable on Thursday. Ms. Rangel died at the scene.
Mr. Stricevich told troopers he'd been drinking alcohol, according to documents filed in Mason County Superior Court. He also told troopers he lost control of the vehicle while reaching for his cell phone, which had fallen to the floor.
According to the State Patrol, Mr. Stricevich was arrested for vehicular homicide after the head-on crash that occurred last Wednesday.
